Only for text when the technology was brand new like 10-12 years ago. Even in modern texting exchanges, no one does this.

Not really. You might do that as a shorthand if you were texting a friend, but i dont know anyone who still types like that.
My sister used to text like that but it made every conversation take twice as lomg because i kept having to ask her what she was saying :)
