Pay the respect to their deceased ancestors on that day by visiting and clean the tomb. We pray and offer foods to the ancestors as well.

In my hometown, we plant flowers or crops. We have an old saying:清明前后,点瓜种豆,which means we should sow around Tomb sweeping day. In some places, people will go for an outing or do sports in that day. In ancient China, Tomb sweeping day is also called " 踏青节”.(Ta Qing jie-go for an outing in early spring)

People in different areas have different ways to show their respect for their ancestors or the dead. For example, people in the city may visit and clean the tomb, and bring some white flowers and food. While people in the countryside in my hometown visit and clean the tomb, fire fireworks and burn some 'money'.
