Man sagt : der Hut von Herrn Müller oder Herrn Müllers Hut ( hier ist das - s wichtig . Es steht für den Genitiv.

Correct is: Herr Müllers Hut or der Hut des Herrn Müller. But I can not explain why. Der Hut Herrn Müllers is completely wrong
