Alsalamu Alikom is the greeting of Islam and it means " Peace be upon you " ,Nowadays it becomes more common .
As all Arabs say it not only Muslims .And when someone say it to u " Alsalamu Alikom " you have to reply saying " Wa Alikom Alsalam " which means " Peace be upon you too " .

Its simple, you got to say one of the following:
1- Wa allaikom asalam wa rahmato allah w barakto
2- Wa allaikom asalam wa rahmato allah
3- Wa allaikom asalam
the first one is the perfect form, but the second and third are more concise.
