I'm beginner too, but minna no nihongo is a book to work with a teacher, and genki is better for self study. I would say genki books are much easier to understand plus i highly recommend wanikani it's a perfect tool to learn kanji and vocabulary. Wanikani has also great community, where u can ask about anything. Good luck with Japanese :) I'm also trying to learn, but english is priority (maybe one day I'll know three language fluently like u [emoji]
