What's the concrete difference between "rise" and "raise"?

'Rise' is an intransitive verb meaning something will do the task on its own.
'The sun rises in the morning.'
'I rise from my chair.'
'Raise' is transitive meaning it needs a direct object.
'I raised three sons.'
'They raise the flag.'
Raise is also a regular verb. Raise, raised, raises.
Last example.
"X raises something"
"Y rises."
