What does superfluity in this sentence mean?
So I have read this sentence in Cambridge dictionary, fascinated by it but I don't quite understand what it actually means. Hope somebody can enlighten me, thank you!

"She was depressed by a sense of her own superfluity"
In this context, I think it means she was depressed because she thought she was unnecessary or worthless. Superfluity doesn't have to have a negative connotation or meaning, but here there is a negativity to it.
