what does "take some time off "mean ? 是不是"休息一下"的意思?

"take some time off" means to not work for a period. For example to take a vacation.
"I took some time off for Chinese New Year."
"I took eight days off for Chinese New Year."
"Some time" just makes it unclear how long.
"I broke my leg and had to take some time off [from work]"
