Banca (Bank) as the place for money, gets name from Banco (desk) where anciently this commerce was done.
Banco (desk) therefore is the place where butchers cut flesh or students bend on reading...
Actually some Banks call themselves "Banco" which then looks more "authoritative", traditional and trustful.
** In old times when someone of these entrepreneurs failed, justice made their desk to be publicly broken, hence the name "bankrupt" (failed).
