"другой" = another one, when chosing between the two
"разный" = different one, in colour or quality, and means there's many different objects, more than two.

Just some examples:
1) X носит красную шляпу. Y носит зеленую шляпу. Они носят разные шляпы ("другие" would be incorrect).
X wears a red hat. Y wears a green hat. They wear different hats.
2) X носит красную шляпу. Y носит другую шляпу, его шляпа - зелёная. ("разная" would be incorrect).
X wears a red hat. Y wears a different hat, his hat is green.
3) What do they sell? - They sell different bags, suitcases, wallets and the like. Они продают разные сумки и т.д. (=всякие, any kind of bags).
4) They sell different bags, you may like them better. Они продают другие сумки (=не такие как в других магазинах, difference in the quality is emphasised).
