Per il supermercato, per cose di tutti i giorni: fare la spesa.
Per acquisti del tipo: vestiti, scarpe, borse:
fare delle spese, andare a 'fare shopping' (usiamo un ibrido italiano-inglese)
Nota: il vestito, i vestiti.
