Notate, notation - writing, to write
Denote , designate - indicate
Connote, connotation - remember con as in what is it connected to - similar to imply but more like subtext
Imply - suggest
Comply - like complete, finish, but in adherence to a rule
Elaborate - to add on to in detail

The best way to learn the differences between such similar words is to review them in a dictionary. Read the definitions then write example sentences using the word. Do this and post your sentences here for us to review.
