Hello Hélène, To begin learning a new language from the scratch you better jump start by some intensive courses to grasp the basics of the language: basic words ,greetings, basic grammar , pronunciation * specially the vowels in french are peculiar*. Simultaneously you do some self learning by using online lessons, reading simple texts , listening to music in that language and using online chat forums to voice chat and practice what you have learned. It is a good idea to travel to a country speaking that language if you could afford that. Exposing yourself to the culture and the language is the best introduction allowing you to live a memory that will last. If you could participate in any forums in your city in language institutes or any language groups; that will give you the chance to encounter native speakers and expose yourself more and more to the language. Keep practicing at the same time and you should feel a gradual improvement. Good luck:)

Try it first, then find a teacher. You may learn the basics from BBC online. I have the link posted on my website at http://arcoplaza.com, you will find it under e-learning section.
