Is there anything different about the meaning of these sentences? - I am hoping for you; or - I am waiting for you? Is it would be the same thing? Thanks!

It appears that you have tried to translate the verb esperar into English and have been given the verbs hope and wait. These verbs are completely different. Hope = Esperanza

The first sentence would be very strange to hear. I would not even know what exactly was trying to be communicated to me. The second would be very natural and common to hear. Is it the same thing? Or Would it be the same thing?
