Why "Turn to gold"?
There is the phrase: "..everything you touch turns to gold..." in the one song (Gold. Imagine dragons), but why does it sing "turns TO gold"? I thought "turns INTO..." is right.

You are right. That's usually the case.
But (1) songwriters are renowned for hashing the language to make words fit the song.
But also (2) we do sometimes use 'turn to'. A common idiom here is "something turns to custard", meaning it goes wrong. It seems that 'turns to x' is only used where x is a material.
