Es ist schön, dass du da bist: It is nice *that* you are here
Wir treffen uns dann am Hauptbahnhof: We will *then* meet at the main train station
Das ist doch klar! *But still*, that's obvious! [difficult to translate "doch" as it can have different meanings]
Noch sind wir nicht verheiratet. We are not married *yet*.
Hier sind ganz viele Leute.: There are a lot of people here. ["ganz" shows the importance of "viele"]
Du bist größer als dein Bruder; Als wir uns trafen, warst du betrunken.
You are taller *than* your brother; *When* we met, you were drunk.

What's a "filling word"? Why is "als" or "dass" one, for example?
