What does meaning have this word????? Hi Everyone. This paragraph: "Instead, McCormick Place will open this week as a field hospital, eventually expanding to accommodate as many as 3,000 people in need of care from the deadly coronavirus exploding inside the United States". What is the meaning of EXPANDING....? A noun? If it is A NOUN into Spanish that meaning "Expandiendo". Quiero saber si estoy en lo correcto porque acá los profesores de inglés enseñan que el gerundio en inglés NO SIGNIFICA que tenga la terminación -ando - iendo pero; en este párrafo (para mí) sí hace de gerundio y en el inglés el gerundio SIEMPRE es un NOUN. Entonces, sí tendría significado de -iendo-. No está haciendo la función de "Expandir" que "Expandir" también es un NOUN pero, no gerundio.

Hola Estefany. En inglés una palabra con la terminación -ing puede ser un gerundio o un participio presente. En este caso es un participio presente, entonces es un verbo.
