dilerim? I know that özür dilerim means I'm sorry. Can someone please explain the breakdown of the word dilerim? I'm thinking that the "im" part refers to I (ben), like I am the one who is sorry. Can someone please explain the diler part?

Dilemek is a verb. It has a meaning something like "wish" Özür dilerim can be translated as " I'm sorry" but also "I apologize" Basically "özür dilerim" is a phrase or collocation Another example with "dilemek" Başarılı olmanı diliyorum = I wish you to be successful. 3 dilek hakkın var = You have three wishes.
