Farsi grammar question: "It's not X, rather Y" How do you use this sentence structure in Farsi? For simple sentences I would say something like, رنگ لباس آبی نیست, بنفش است این ماشین مال من نیست مال رئیس من است But how do you use it in a more complicated sentence? Here is an example: "It's likely that the problem is not due to your lack of effort but rather (because of) your technique" Thank you!

The key word you're looking for is «بلکه», but it's rarely used in everyday spoken Persian. The example above can be translated as: Momken ast ke moshkel az nâkâfi budan-e talâsh-e shomâ nabâshad, balke az nâdorost budan-e ravesh-e shomâ bâshad. But you'd most likely hear a native Persian speaker say something along the lines of: Ehtemâlan moshkel az talâsh nakardanet nist, az ravesh-e eshtebâhete.

ممكن است كه مشكل تو به خاطر تلاش نكردن تو نباشد، بلكه به خاطر تكنيكت باشد.
