They're both grammatically correct, but they don't both express the same thing.
The "it" in the first sentence is about something that helps you remember something else.
The "it" in the second sentence is what you remember.
If you wanted them to express a similar thing you'd have to add e.g. " ... that way" or "... by these means" to the second one.

It (for example Repetition) helps me to remember easily.
It's (it is) easier to remember.= A short sentence is easier to remember. Hope that helps🙂
