What is the difference between 잃어버리다 and 잃다?
Is there a nuance in meaning? In what situations should I use each one?

아/어/여 버리다 is used when someone finish doing something and have feeling of relief or regret.
잃다 just means "to lose" without any feeling.
잃어버리다 means "to have lost and feel regret"
Generally, people feel regret when something was lost.
So, 잃어버리다 is much more frequently used compared to 잃다.
