En España:
"Chaval" significa muchacho, chico.
"Ote" es un sufijo informal, usado normalmente por la gente joven. Es más bien cariñoso, y sólo se le dice a alguien con quien se tenga confianza. Puede que en algún caso signifique "grande".
Otros ejemplos de "ote" : muchachote, machote.

Hello Lydia,
It is a slang word or informal one. I don't know its meaning, looked it up then ,but doesn't seem to exist. It might be a first name, not sure .
I would like to know as well.
