( Doohickey !!! ) Help me with it !!!!
Doohickey( onomatopoeic words replacing ideas or sentences that the speaker could not express ) is something I heard of lately which , I think , could be so perplexing for non-natives . Tell me all you know about Doohickey. And how on Earth can I know the meaning behind that onomatopoeic expression ?????

A doohickey is a name for a machine/device when you have no idea what it does.
My guess as to its etymology: a machine that doo (does) 'hickey' (the onomatopeic sound it makes). Kinda like "The machine that goes 'ping'." (See: The Meaning of Life).
