what does sit like vegetable and stare mean?
Whether you love or hate them, airports are captivating places. It seems like waiting is the only thing anyone ever gets done. With nothing to do and nowhere to go before your zone number is called, you either reread last night’s texts or you just sit there like a vegetable and stare
It's from owlcityblog.but i dont understand the last sentence.

A vegetable = a person whose brain is clinically useless, but is still alive.
Sitting there like a vegetable...I think you get the picture.

Vegetable in this context means something like dull or that doesn't show any response to what's happening around so, you are going to do nothing, without making any movements, just staring how the airport's activity is going on right in front of you... just like if you were a vegetable, you are sitting and staring =)
