outstanding = unpaid ??? why ?
outstanding = unpaid ??? why ?
I thought It meant as below. But I think unpaid is not fabulous.
so It's a little bit weird for me. Do you think why it has the meaning !? Thanks in advance !

It has two meanings:
1. excellent
2. outstanding payments = payments not yet made

outstanding = adjective: still in existence; unsettled, unpaid, or unresolved
You have an outstanding debt of $300 dollars. Write your check made payable to Dark Panther!

outstanding means something above or outside of what's normal or accepted, like standing out. In terms of people, it can mean someone who's outside or above the norm, which is a good thing. But when it comes to debt, it means you're standing outside of a zero-dollar balance, like a deficit. So it means you owe money.
Sorry if that doesn't make complete sense, but that's the best way I can relate the two meanings.

the meaning can somewhat be guessed:
1) standing out in a crowd: look different from everybody around you
2) still standing: the debt is still active (not yet cleared)
