Class : ( room in school in which student sit to learn )
a group of students who are taught together
Example :
We were in the same class at school.
She is the youngest in her class.
He came top of the class.
...........................................
Lesson : ( it is the information you learn in the class )
something that is intended to be learned:
Example :
The book is divided into 30 lessons.
Other countries can teach us a lesson or two on industrial policy.

The group will be working in the field. Meaning working outside, not necessarily in a field.
