'A bandage' is made of soft material and used to protect a skin injury from infection. 'A cast' is hard and usually made from plaster of paris. It is used to immobilize an injured body part.
Slumber is usually synonymous with sleep but it can also mean to be dormant.
Numb means to be devoid of sensation or emotion.
