Talking with others can be of great comfort to me when I suffer from negative
thoughts. —— Even though I have been working hard on my thesis proposal
for days, the topic is still up in the air. —— I can't convince
myself that my research question could be solved properly with the method required,
or forced, to use by my mentor. —— It seems I am producing a piece of academic
trash which, I am totally reluctant to do (unsure exactly what you want to say. You could also say “It seems I am producing a piece of academic trash, which I am reluctant to complete”, if you mean you do not want to finish it)—— However, after talking with my
classmates this afternoon, I felt much better about what I will be doing next.
—— We shared a lot about our own thesis topics separately, and complained about
problems we were facing both now as well as what we would face later. —— It was a great relief for
me to hear they haven't started writing their proposals either, and we had very
similar problems in that regard. It may sound mean, but it is true. —— On top of that,
we put forward many ideas for each other's research, and encouraged each other
to move on. —— Maybe these ideas won't work in the end, but at least they opened our
