I'm a native English speaker who was born in Sheffield and I now live in London, the capital of the UK. I'm married with no children. I enjoy travelling and my favourite places that I've visited include Boston, northern Italy, and lots of beautiful places here in the UK.
My hobbies include cooking, running and going to the gym. I'm a massive fan of technology too and love talking about all the latest stuff.Me as a Teacher
I'm a supportive and patient teacher and I really love doing my job. It's great to see students grow and develop their English language skills. I'll push you to improve in every lesson and become more confident in using English.
My students and I have taken over 1,750 lessons together and I have many students who come back every week, many of them have studied with me for several years and who still have things to learn and talk about!My lessons & teaching style
Our lessons are mostly conversational and will be based on a topic that you choose, or I can set a topic if you'd prefer. We can discuss and read together and keep the conversation flowing.
If you want more formal lessons, we can study English grammar, watch real English videos such as TED Talks, or look at newspaper articles. I use industry-leading lesson plans from ESL Brains and Fluentize. Don't worry if you're a beginner or advanced learner, I have content at your level so you can grow.
I'm a very patient teacher and will help you to feel more confident using your English language skills. Feel free to ask any questions that you like - don't worry, there aren't any stupid ones!My teaching material

CELTA (Cambridge English Level 5 TESOL) - Cambridge Assessment English - 2020CELTA is an initial teacher training course which consists of 200 hours of guided learning including 6 hours of teaching practice. 2000 - 2019
Learning & Development ManagerI worked as a Learning & Development Manager, helping staff improve their work-related skills. As part of this, I regularly taught in front of large classes. This helped me when I started to teach English online and in the classroom.
As part of my job, I worked with staff from all over the world to help them improve their Business English skills, through one-to-one training and virtual classrooms.
2020 - 2022
English Tutor and Skills CoachAfter passing my CELTA, I set up as a private tutor, teaching online to students from all over the world. Given my background at DXC, I particularly helped students who were looking for a job after they finished their degrees, and gave employability support.
2021 - 2024
Apprentice Programme ManagerI currently work part-time as an Apprentice Programme Manager for a company in London. An Apprentice is a student who doesn't go to university but goes to their work to learn a skill (like an engineer, a plumber or an electrician.) I'm there to make sure the apprentices continue with their studies and pass their apprenticeship. It's a job that I really enjoy as I love to watch young people develop in their first jobs.
