Hello! My name is Charlaine. I live in Ottawa, which is Canada's nations capital. I have a bachelor's degree in Fundamentals and Methodology of Education and two different TESOL certifications. I am also certified as a teacher aide. I love spending time being active and enjoying the outdoors. I also enjoy reading, travelling, learning about different cultures, cooking and meeting new people. I have been learning Mandarin Chinese since 2003 and have had the privilege to see many different parts of the world, including the beautiful scenery in Guilin (桂林) and the majestic Great Wall of China.Me as a Teacher
As a language learner myself, I feel that I am better able to understand my students. I have experienced the joys and challenges of learning a new language and I believe this helps me to be a better teacher. I think that learning should be fun and enjoyable. During my over 15 years of teaching, I have taught a variety of subjects and my students have varied in age, background and language level. I am very passionate about teaching young students and helping them to develop a love for learning. I have taught English as a Second Language for a Canadian school board and at a local college. For five years, I have been specializing in teaching children ages 4-15 in an online classroom.My lessons & teaching style
I like to use a student centered approach that encourages the students to speak as much as possible. This allows me to adjust to the individual needs of the students while they practice their newly learned skills. I enjoy seeing the students having fun while they learn new thoughts and concepts. My goal is to help the students grasp new concepts quickly while growing in their confidence, fluency and accuracy. Learning a new language opens up so many opportunities for students and I am passionate about seeing my students reach their full potential.My teaching material

老师很有趣，很和善，上课效率高，有说错的地方会帮我及时改正。因为是第一次在这里上课，老师还特地抽了上课后的十分钟来用聊天的方式自我介绍，很轻松。上课后，老师讲课效率很高，有不会的地方也会帮忙。同时根据上的课，读的故事做了人物关系图(思维导图)好帮助我跟好的理。课程最后，老师会进行课程总结，整理知识点并带我一起我复习。下课之后也会及时发来课程总结。非常好，推荐这个老师！
