Hi there. Kumusta? It's Victoria, the tutor you're looking for. I graduated with a Bachelor of Secondary Education, Major in Filipino, from one of the premier educational institutions in the Philippines.
During college, I served as a language buddy to foreign students at our university, teaching them Filipino. Now, I am a full-time Senior High School teacher, instructing Grade 11 and Grade 12 students in both Filipino and English subjects.

As a teacher, I am:
1. UNDERSTANDING
Learning a new language is a hard skill, that is why I am very understanding. I believe that students should learn according to their own pace. They should not be forced to understand a certain lesson quickly, but master a specific lesson before going to the next.

I have curriculum prepared to be followed in each lesson tailored to your specific needs and learning goals.

Before I discuss a lesson, I assess first my students' knowledge about the Filipino language to know if they are a beginner, intermediate, advanced, and proficient. That way, I get to know what lesson would be best to teach them.
Furthermore, I believe that besides of learning the rules and technicalities of the Filipino language, the best way to learn it is to fully immerse yourself in the Filipino culture. Because, language is a big part of culture. Because of this, my lessons will get you in touch with the culture through conversation-based lessons, allowing you to learn exactly how the language is spoken by it's native speakers.My teaching material

Teaching experience
2023 - 2024
Student Teacher InternI was deployed as a student teacher in a public school for four months, from October 2023 to January 2024. During this time, I taught the Filipino subject to Grade 8 level to five sections with around 50 students in each section.
2024 - Current
Senior High School TeacherI am working as a full-time Senior High School teacher, handling both Filipino and English subjects. Trained to handle large classes of up to 50 students, I’ve mastered the art of creating meaningful learning experiences even in the busiest of rooms.
Beyond the classroom, I am also a School Paper Adviser, where I mentor aspiring student journalists — nurturing their voices, sharpening their writing, and inspiring them to make their mark in the world of media.

In every class with Victoria I always learn so much from her! A student can try to study on their own but you miss out on so much when you are with someone who really understands the mechanics of the language and can explain it to you in an easily understood manner. Victoria is a very diligent teacher who puts in a lot of effort to ensure her students make great progress in every lesson.

Learning Tagalog with Victoria is always an absolute joy. She custom tailors her lessons to her student's needs and is very open to making changes if you would like to focus on something else. The materials she puts together is fantastic and provides a great mixture of grammar, vocabulary, Filipino culture, and so much more. There is so much to learn and by having Victoria as your teacher you will definitely improve your Tagalog lesson by lesson.

I really appreciate that Vicky goes above and beyond whenever we encounter key concepts that requires a solid understanding of the Tagalog language. She does a wonderful job of breaking grammar concepts down by providing helpful questions we can ask ourselves, translating our own sentences, and giving lots of solid examples. For today's lesson, we even went overtime so that she could finish explaining the usage of fairly complex verbs. Vicky has amazing dedication for her students.

Vicky's lessons are always filled with a lot of joy and challege. Her warm up conversation today was very delightful in asking fun questions such as what kind of food would we be if we had to choose. Since Vicky recognizes I am at an intermediate level of Tagalog she gives me challenging assignments that are advanced enough to make me really think and put in a lot of effort. Every lesson of hers is always making me a better Tagalog speaker.
