Another fascinating lesson with Adriana! We discussed an ongoing environmental issue in Colombia that connected history, wildlife, and the country’s unique ecosystems, and how even a small change in the environment can lead to bigger challenges that communities and scientists work together to solve. It was a fascinating topic and gave great insight into Colombia’s natural environment. I really enjoy that our lessons focus on meaningful, real-world topics that help me understand the culture while improving my speaking, listening, and reading skills. The discussions are engaging, and I always learn useful new vocabulary connected to real-life language and situations. Adriana also shares interesting and helpful resources that make it easier to visualize what we’re talking about and learn more outside of class. She does a great job balancing cultural insight with my language learning goals, so every lesson feels both interesting and productive!

Another really engaging and enriching lesson! We talked about the different ethnic groups and communities in Colombia, which made it fascinating to learn about the country’s diverse people, cultures, and regional identities, along with some of the history behind them. It added so much depth and context to the language we were using. I got a great mix of reading and speaking practice, which is exactly what I needed since I’m a bit rusty. She was very patient and excellent at explaining new words or ideas in a way that helped me understand and actually use them, while still keeping the class immersive. She was very professional and well prepared with useful materials, and she really centered the lesson around my learning experience and goals. It felt both supportive and productive, a great balance between cultural learning and practical speaking practice!
