For the past 18 years, I’ve been lucky enough to live in one of the most beautiful cities in the world—Guilin, China. I moved here in 2007 without knowing any Chinese, but fast forward to today, and I have a wonderful family, a job I’m truly passionate about, and yes, I can speak Chinese. In my spare time, I love spending time with my family, reading, hanging out with my daughter, and playing with our cat, Coco (she sometimes makes a cameo in our lessons!). I LOVE meeting new people, and I’m excited to get to know you, hear your story, and learn about your unique experiences! My passion for teaching stems from a love of language and culture, inspired by my high school friendships with exchange students. I was fascinated by their cultures and languages and tried, though largely unsuccessfully, to learn them all. My methods are influenced by the groundbreaking work of Mike Long in Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) and backed by the latest research in Second Language Acquisition (SLA). I really enjoy Ryan's English class. To make sure I can understand him, he speaks very slowly and uses very simple words. Although I've only had one class, I feel less scared to speak English than I was at the beginning. I'm looking forward to every class that follows.
