I am a native Dutch speaker, but have lived in the USA for over ten years. I gained a lot of experience as a Spanish student on Italki. This experience has been so rewarding that I want to share it with you as a tutor on the Italki platform. As you can see from my profile, I offer two categories of lessons, one is a conversation based lesson, which is intended for intermediate - advanced students. The other lesson is for beginner to intermediate students who don't have much experience with the language and need more guidance and explanation using the lesson materials that I will provide. I believe in learning through active participation, which means you will be speaking from day one.Me as a Teacher
I consider myself as a patient teacher and I try to create an environment where students feel comfortable. It's not a problem if you have never spoken the language or have little experience. I can always switch to Dutch, English or Spanish if you get stuck on a sentence or need more explanation in those languages. I will always find a way to guide you through the processMy lessons & teaching style
In the conversation classes, the teaching style is relaxed and we will discuss a variety of topics. During this lesson, I will identify and correct any grammar, pronunciation or sentence structure errors. This lesson will focus on increasing vocabulary, making mistakes and becoming more comfortable speaking. The other category of lessons will provide the student with all the tools necessary to speak the language correctly. My lessons are designed to explain grammar in a fun and interactive way where the student applies the concepts by speaking. Using context is very important when teaching something new and I will personalize the lessons based on the needs of the student.My teaching material
