KAI

Kai is very enthusiastic and teaches with great energy. He speaks very clearly and loudly, as well as uses a lot of expressions while conversing. I can tell he has a lot of experience teaching and has lot of skills and tools to offer to his students.

My first lesson in a while and Kai was great - patient, helpful and a good energy. Looking forward to my next class!

Kai is so fun, patient, and enthusiastic. I’m taking Taiwanese Hokkien and it’s so rare to find an instructor who knows both the Chinese and Tâi-lô romanization systems fluently. So glad to be studying with him.

Kai was effective and encouraging in his tutoring, even though, due to pressure of circumstances, I had come to the lesson poorly prepared. I still felt I had been given the opportunity to practise phrasing my thoughts, and consequently felt also that I'd improved my understanding of Taiwanese and ... as always ... I'd left the lesson feeling enthused to learn more.

Another excellent lesson. Kai is always in tune with my interests and knows just how to encourage me into the next level (the zone of proximal development, to use Zygostsky's educational parlance) for improving while sustaining my Taiwanese.

Impressed by the way that Kai can steer and facilitate conversation into areas of interest (discussing inter al. cremation, cycling, left-handedness, and colonialism) while stretching my Taiwanese - and enthusing me to want to stretch my Taiwanese - incrementally to a higher level. Kai's approach exemplifies Zygotsky's "zone of proximal development" mode of tuition.
