I live in Tokyo and enjoy hiking, reading, traveling. My favorite part about iTalki is learning about the world through conversations with my students. Especially passionate about quirks of Norwegian pronunciation, such as pitch accent and retroflex consonants - ask me!
Jeg bor i Tokyo og liker å gå på tur, lese, og reise. Det jeg liker best med iTalki er å lære om verden gjennom samtaler med elevene mine. Lidenskapelig opptatt av særegenheter med norsk uttale som tonefall og retroflekse konsonanter - spør meg!

Me as a Teacher
The most important thing for me is that you feel completely comfortable and free to do as many mistakes as you can - that's the best way to build confidence in your speaking abilities! Forgetting words, long thinking pauses, or to mispronounce words - all of that is part of learning a new language, and with me as a teacher you get a space to improve your speaking abilities without worrying about such things.
Det viktigste for meg er at du føler deg helt komfortabel og fri til å gjøre så mange feil som du kan - det er den beste måten å bygge selvtillit til å snakke på! Å glemme ord, lange tenkepauser, eller å uttale ord feil - alt dette er en helt naturlig del av å lære et nytt språk.
My lessons & teaching style
I am offering conversation lessons. I want to give you an opportunity to practice real, natural Norwegian though talking about things that are relevant to you.
Norwegian learners from upper-beginner level are welcome, as long as you know the basics and feel ready to begin speaking. Speaking well is not a requirement - it's the end goal!
Please note that this is not a Norwegian from scratch course. I am more than happy to discuss grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and so on with you - and many of my students like to make a shared document where we can write down example sentences and correct mistakes, which I highly encourage - but the basic format of the lessons are conversation-style.

EN: Axel is simply awesome. Glad to have found him on this platform. He's super professional (as in consistent and on time) and you'll find him easy to chat with. Ever since having him as my tutor, I have improved my speaking ability many fold under his guidance. Give him a try and you won't regret it.
NO: Axel er en kjempebra lærer! Jeg føler meg heldig for å ha funnet ham her på italki. Han har hjulpet meg å forbedre norsken min spesielt å snakke mer naturlig. Forsøk å ha en leksjon med ham og jeg tror at du skal lære mye og le mye

It was very cool. Axel didn't interrupt me and just wrote down my mistakes in the chat. We avoided English as much as possible. I think he adapted his speech to my level of understanding. Whenever I didn't get something he repeated it, tried it slower, put it in different words, and only at the end translated into English.
Good and chill vibes, the lesson went smoother than expected.
