Georgius is a serious, focused teacher with an extremely deep knowledge of the Latin language and its literature, as well as other languages, making him the ideal teacher if you hope to learn to read and speak correct, fluent Latin at the advanced level. By asking his students to paraphrase the readings in Latin and correcting their mistakes, he helps us with both reading comprehension and active speaking at the same time. I would highly recommend his courses to anyone seriously interested in learning the Latin language to an advanced level.

The first lesson was great. Georgius is clearly extremely passinate about Latin, and very knowledgeable about languages in general. He was able to give in-depth information on historical linguistic misconceptions. Knowing the history of a sector in depth (instead of just the status quo) is one of the main distinguishing features between someone who is simply competent, and someone who has advanced competence. He also has knowledge about multiple languages which he did not list on his profile, and he was able to use those as references to explain material as it came up. Understating your knowledge is a clear sign of humility, which is extremely important in a teacher. An effective teacher of any sector needs to be knowledgable, humble, and adaptable, and Georgius is all 3. There was literally nothing in his approach that I would try to correct. Highly recommended and I will definitely keep coming back for more lessons.

We continued reading Livius today. I learned a number of interesting and useful new phrases, both from the pages we read and from the teacher himself!

Georgius, summus magistrorum hac in sede, non sine diligentia solita ac patientia, omnia, quae apud Livium legimus, recte et iucunde enodavit. Quod pulchrum dictu mihi videtur.

Hodie latine scribere institui, non quod ingenium meum, quod sentio, quam sit exiguum, ostendere velim, sed quia quot res pulchras a Georgio, magistro doctissimo atque humanissimo, didici, ostendere oportet. Opus Livii de more legimus. Nonullas verborum iuncturas, mihi nuper ignotas, non sine diligentia invenimus. Georgius omnia clare et diligenter explicavit. Macte virtute!

Today's class with Georgius was very interesting. We did a very close reading of a passage from Livy, going into great detail regarding both the language and the characters in the narrative, many of whom I knew little about previously. As always, we spoke Latin the whole time, but nevertheless everything was perfectly clear. He used images to better explain some words. Another successful lesson!
