Hi! I’m Veera — a Finnish language professional with a master’s degree in translation and years of teaching experience. Born and raised in Finland, and now living in Norway, I’ve got to know the ups and downs of language learning (English, Norwegian, Japanese, Russian — ask me for tips!).
I love exploring cultures — especially Japan’s — and reading a good book or playing games. My passion is also helping students speak Finnish confidently. Whether you’re prepping for the YKI test, traveling, or just starting out, I’ll make it fun and effective. I want you to feel at home in Finland!Me as a Teacher
As a trained translator I am first and foremost an expert of Finnish language, and I have a minor in Finnish. I have been teaching Finnish from beginners to all the way to advanced Finnish speakers and native speaker. I have experience teaching different age groups: kids, teens and adult.
My lessons will be tailored to your wishes, goals, language level and interests. As a language learner myself I understand there are ups and downs in language learning, but I am ready to face these challenges with you. I am a calm person who likes to help others learn, so don't be afraid to ask questions or make mistakes. I believe that everyone can learn Finnish! :)My lessons & teaching style
I am a structured and thorough teacher who loves to use different teaching methods and materials. I think it's important to use Finnish as much as possible in order to build good understanding of the language and getting used to how it sounds. That's why I will try to speak mostly in Finnish - even for beginners! And I will that you'll also try to use Finnish as much as possible. Don't be afraid, because I've taught people with absolutely zero knowledge of Finnish using this method - and it works! :) Of course you are free to use other languages when trying to ask questions, but please try asking in Finnish first. The teacher was very kind and explained everything well. She corrected my mistakes and wrote down useful words. We practiced role plays and the lesson had a nice dynamic.

I've just finished a 5 session conversational package with Veera, and am very happy with my experience. She's very good at mixing things up so that I can practice both listening and speaking. When I have difficulty understanding, she's very good at helping me without too much recourse to English. I am more confident in my Finnish after this package, and plan on doing more sessions with her in the future.

I’m taking Finnish lessons with Veera here for a while now, and she’s honestly amazing! She’s super attentive, always paying close attention to what I say and helping me get better. Veera is helpful in breaking/suggesting things down in a way that’s easy to understand and guiding me with new phrases and expressions. Plus, she’s incredibly encouraging, which makes me feel more confident every lesson. We usually pick a topic to chat about, and she gives me space to try out different sentences while gently correcting me. I can’t recommend Veera enough to anyone looking to learn Finnish. She is a fantastic teacher!
