Hello everyone!
Mi chiamo Elisa e, se vorrete, sarò la vostra nuova insegnante di italiano. Al momento abito in Australia, ma chissà dove mi porterà presto il futuro.
Regarding my experience, I have taught my native language to both teens and adults. My Bachelor’s Degree is in Languages and Literatures (English and Russian), and my Master’s Degree is in Modern Philology. Last year, I also obtained CEDIL certification, which certifies my competence in teaching Italian as a foreign language or second language.
I have studied languages since I was 13 years old, and now that I live in Australia, I use them daily at work and outside work to interact with locals and friends. I always loved studying languages, but I hated how language class made me feel: anxious, insecure, and afraid of being judged by teachers and classmates. In addition to these odd feelings, it seemed to me that, despite all the efforts, I never really improved in the learning process.
But all these experiences made me understand how a student should feel in class: confident, relaxed, understood, listened to, and supported. You will find all of this in our lesson (+ with tons of laughter). In our classes, there will be no space for judgment: learning a language is hard, and the only way to truly master it is by making mistakes! Mistakes are an essential part of learning.

Elisa has a very welcoming and friendly personality. I am very self-conscious about how bad I am butchering the beautiful Italian language when speaking and she was able to at least get a little Italian out of me on day one. Elisa is very encouraging and was able to make me feel ok about sucking right now, not her words but mine, because everyone struggles at first and you do not get better without speaking. This was my first lesson but I feel like she really could be the person to help me overcome my fear of participating in something beautiful for fear of ruining it. Again this was just the trial lesson so just a vibe and also I could be a lost cause but we will see because I am signing up for my next class now😉
