I'm Keith , a native English speaker originally from London but now living in Brighton on the south coast of England with my 2 dogs. I've been studying Brazilian Portuguese since 2015. So I know how challenging learning another language can be. I'm relaxed, patient & friendly. I can give you advice, answer questions, help with grammar as well as anything else you need. But I believe one of the best ways to reach fluency is through conversation with native speakers like myself. This is what has helped me the most with my own language learning.
I've always loved learning a second language, and I have plenty of experience helping others with their English too. This passion led me to earn my TEFL qualification in 2017 and later become a community tutor on italki, where I support learners in reaching their language goals. In 2025, I published my first book, The Adventure of James & the Black Cat, designed for Portuguese speakers learning English. I also released a version for English speakers learning Brazilian Portuguese.
I provide a choice between general conversation lessons, reading (including my own book) or grammar/vocabulary lessons for all levels. If you want to focus on anything in particular just let me know and I'm confident I can help. I will try to make our lessons relaxed, fun and interesting and help to keep you motivated on your journey to fluency.My teaching material

I was looking for someone to talk with on a regular basis so I could get used to talking with a native English speaker and boy, did I get one. It feels like I'm in a time warp whenever we talk because time goes by in a flash and before you know it, an hour has gone. We'd normally just skype and talk about nonsense but if you need a more structured lesson from Keith, I'm sure he can accommodate that - just let him know! - but for now, I like my lessons like I like my shopping trips to Sephora - unplanned, fun, and I always end up getting more things than I should out of it.
