Due to the unexpected school closures with Covid-19, my children have been learning Chinese with Jane everyday. I can see their improvement and progression. They have been engaged and happy learning with Jane.

Jane is a great teacher, I tried to study Chinese on my own for a while but with my busy life it was hard to do. Jane helps me stay focused and learn far more than I would have on my own.

Jane is an exceptionally good teacher. Today I had my 9th lesson with her. I tried a number of other professional teachers here on italki, too. These are my thoughts about Jane: professional: - no interruptions (phone calls, doorbell, noise) - uses proper laptop (instead of mobile phone) and good headphones - has good internet connection - has all the resources at hand good teacher: - keeps track of past lessons (so she can easily refer new introduced grammar from earlier lessons) - knows how to adapt to student's very special requirements (for example, she understands that I need her to help me to make flashcards with "weird" word-for-word translations - she's not only able to cope with my requirement easily, she even likes the challenge of it!) - and what I like most: the lessons with Jane are fun and very efficient (we get a lot of stuff done in a short time) I don't write such a review light-heartedly, but I can highly recommend Jane to everybody.

Jane is a phenomenal teacher. If you're serious about learning Mandarin, I can't recommend her enough. She is patient and understanding but not afraid to point out your mistakes and ensure comprehension. From our first lesson, she attempted to maximize the percentage of our conversation that was in Mandarin rather than English, but without ever allowing communication between us to break down. She adds words and practice which go beyond the material in the books, which makes it so when the words actually appear in the book, things are easy to handle. After an hour lesson I often feel tired from the level of mental focus required, but have a massive sense of accomplishment, like a good workout - and at the end of the day a lesson is elite mental exercise in general, beyond just learning the language. Our classes make me want to give it my all in my self-study so that I can make more progress and impress her the next lesson. 我一定会加油！

We had a long break in between lessons because of a busy high school year but Jane is such a wonderful teacher that the lesson was so seamless. Thank you so much!
