Hello! Hola! Olá! My name is Alaina and I am from Pennsylvania in the U.S., but have lived in Spain for more than a decade now.
I speak fluent Spanish (C2) and Portuguese (C1), and am now learning Darija Arabic (on italki!). In the future I intend to study Italian and Polish, as my great grandparents immigrated to the U.S. many years ago. In my free time, I like to read, travel, practice foreign languages, and go to the gym.Me as a Teacher
I studied Spanish and Journalism for my undergraduate degrees, and then attained a Master's degree in Hispanic literature. While pursuing my Master's, I taught university-level Spanish classes. Since living in Spain, I have gained experience teaching English as a second language to all ages. I taught for two years at the high school level, and then a year in a grade school. I also worked at an English academy giving lessons to adults and preschool-aged children.
I now have more than a decade of language teaching experience, and also work as a translator and copyeditor.My lessons & teaching style
Since I have experience with all levels of English and Spanish, I teach from beginning to advanced learners in both languages. I can customize grammar lessons, or simply have a more relaxed class where we can practice speaking. It's essential that the student have the type of lesson they want and feel comfortable, which is why I customize lessons to each student. See you soon, hasta pronto!
Note: I am extremely flexible when it comes to rescheduling classes--I understand, sometimes life happens! As long as you contact me before the lesson time we can always reschedule. However, if you miss the lesson and do not contact me before the lesson time, the lesson will not be rescheduled.My teaching material
