Hello! I am Carmen, a Certified Spanish Teacher and DELE Official Examiner with a wide experience teaching Spanish in academies, high schools and online. I am from Madrid (Spain). I have lived out of Spain for some years in beautiful and interesting cities like Oxford (UK) and Tokyo (Japan). Now I am back in Madrid.Me as a Teacher
I have a Master´s Degree in Education, a Master´s Degree in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language, and I am a Certified DELE Examiner.
During my time in Japan, I had an amazing experience teaching Spanish to Japanese and Chinese students in several academies. In Oxford, I have had the immense luck to work as a Spanish Teacher in two world-class schools: Magdalen College School and Headington School.
I have been working at Italki since 2021 and recently received the Italki Teacher Excellence Award in June 2025.
I am organized, respectful, patient and dynamic. My main objective is that you learn in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.My lessons & teaching style
Lesson structure: 1. Review of the previous lesson 2. New material 3. Feedback. We can always modify the lesson structure according to your needs.
Teacher´s policy:
In Italki it isn´t possible to reschedule the class within the 24 hours before the class. In this situation:
- If the student doesn´t attend the class and doesn´t notify the absence, the teacher will wait for the student. Credits will be charged.
- If the student doesn´t attend the class but gives late notice, credits won’t be charged the first time. Second time on, credits will be charged.

The classes I had with Carmen were fun and extremely productive. I realized straight away that she is a professional teacher with a lot of experience, which makes a huge difference—especially when preparing for an exam or a language proficiency test. She helped me immensely in planning my progress in Spanish and provided me with a lot of valuable materials to elevate my Spanish to the next level. I highly recommend booking classes with her!

Carmen is one of the best teachers I have ever known. She has the perfect combination of qualities to keep me moving forward. While she is unquestionably kind and supportive, she is also focused and organized. She made a deliberate effort to understand my needs and interests and formulated a detailed plan to achieve those objectives. Most importantly, her methodology has produced results. Right now, without a formal assessment, I can't say for sure how much progress I have made in the two months that I have been working with Carmen, but I am more confident, and that confidence has enabled me to better access my learning. Carmen created the environment that has led me to this point, and I am so grateful for her skilled and thoughtful instruction.

I’ve really been enjoying my general lessons with Carmen, she’s professional and an organised person who you can still have a natural free flowing conversation with about whatever topic.
Also, I’m glad I did my B1 DELE prep with her because the tips and guidance from her as an examiner helped me to pass first time! 😀
I will definitely continue with my post-DELE general lessons with Carmen so that I can continue to improve in all 4 skill areas - reading, writing, speaking and listening. Because I know with her it will happen 😌

Best teacher I had so far on italki. Carmen is always prepared with a document for the lessons and gives me excellent explanations and examples. I made a lot of progress during our lessons. I highly recommend booking a class with her! :)
