About Me

Hey there!
I am a physicist with a passion for languages, cultures and linguistics. My native language is Finnish, but I also speak English and Japanese, and have recently begun studying Arabic. I have lived in Finland, the UK, and Japan. In addition to learning new languages, my hobbies include fantasy books & films, playing the piano, travelling and cycling. I am currently interested in teaching English, Finnish and Japanese.
Me as a Teacher
Having climbed the “mountain of fluency” in two foreign languages, I know exactly how hard and frustrating the journey can be, but I also know how rewarding and satisfying finally making it to the top is. To me, wrapping your head around a completely new way of thinking that often comes with achieving fluency in a language is one of the best feelings I know, and I want to share it with you.
As someone with a strong background in science, my specialty is scientific communication and technical writing. I also think my experience in grappling with abstract scientific concepts has taught me to explain grammatical concepts and semantic nuances in a concise and easily understandable way.My lessons & teaching style
Whether it be Finnish, English or Japanese you are interested to learn, I would love to discuss any topic you find fascinating or challenging, and give you personalised tips to improve your language skills. I am happy to conduct the lessons in any of the three languages, eg. a Finnish lesson in English, a Japanese lesson in Finnish, etc. I can help you with not only grammar and speaking/listening, but also composition and reading comprehension. Furthermore, I have experience in writing and proofreading CVs, cover letters and essays, preparing for interviews and other business-related language usage.

Très intéressante première lesson avec lui. Il était très préparé, dynamique et patient. Son approche est unique et vaut la peine d'être découverte. Je pense que les cours permettront de vraiment d'approfondir certains aspects de la langue et de la comprendre pourquoi dans les moindre détails.

Great first lesson! Ville was precise and engaging, and he's clearly put a *lot* of thought into how to teach Finnish (and in general, how to learn languages). I also really enjoyed his pronunciation tips: he knew exactly what I was doing wrong and had great suggestions for how to fix things. Very fun lesson and I'm excited to keep learning with him
