Let me tell you a little bit about me. I am from Somerset, which is in the south-west of England. It is a beautiful area, & I love walking, running, cycling & camping in the countryside when I am here. I also love spending time in different countries – yoga has drawn me to India several times. Nature & looking after the environment is very important to me, and I enjoy working in gardens & growing vegetables. I also spend a lot of time campaigning on climate, environment & animal rights issues. Finally, I really enjoy reading – actually, reading is one of my favourite things to do! Hopefully, we will have lots to talk about :) * Please note - I update my schedule on a weekly basis *

Me as a Teacher

I have over 10 years experience as a professional English teacher and have taught English at all levels. I have also taught preparation courses for IELTS and Cambridge exams. I have worked as a teacher in Oman, the UAE, Japan, Spain and the UK. I'm an extremely patient teacher. I focus my teaching on getting students to speak as much as possible and look to develop their fluency. However, I also incorporate grammar into my lessons to ensure that students understand the grammar rules and feel confident when speaking. My goal is for you to become a proficient English speaker, however I always tailor my goals depending on your needs. ** Classes are currently for over 16s only **

My lessons & teaching style

My lessons on italki will be conversation based. We will choose a topic, and using a variety of materials we will have a relaxed conversation. During the lesson, I will introduce new vocabulary, and we will explore grammar that comes up. I will tell you the most important mistakes that you make when speaking English, and I will help you to correct your errors. To support our discussion, I enjoy using pictures, stories, articles, video clips, TED talks, and music. Depending on your needs, I also like to include pronunciation activities and games in our lessons. ** I am not currently offering lesson to children **

Very nic English lesson as always. I always enjoy the conversation and the friendly atmosphere with Catherine. Part of the conversation was on the topic of the article Catherine sent to me in advance and part was a spontaneous friendly chat. Which is great for practicing English, when from time to time is not prepare in advance and I have to react immediately. And the last part of the lesson is devoted to a summary of the lesson, where I made mistakes and how to correct them. Perfect lesson!!
