My name is Weston. I am a native English speaker, a fourth-generation American, and a licensed attorney in the United States. My ancestors immigrated from Japan in 1915, over 100 years ago. My hobbies include speaking Japanese, learning about my Japanese heritage, and traveling abroad. I have spent significant time in Japan, Taiwan, South Africa, Kenya, Turkey, Israel,and Palestine.Me as a Teacher
As an undergraduate student, I gained extensive experience tutoring Japanese international and exchange students at Portland State University in Oregon. Through this work, I developed a strong passion for helping students master academic writing and formal speaking skills, particularly in classroom settings. I continue to enjoy helping close friends improve their English writing and speaking, especially when preparing essays and presentations. My lessons & teaching style
Our lessons will typically involve a conversation about a topic that interests the student. If the student does not have a particular topic they would like to work on, I will find news articles online or encyclopedic articles online to discuss. If the student has an essay or written English product they would like to work on, I am happy to help with editing documents on a shared platform like Google Docs.My teaching material
