About Me

I was 27 when I discovered my passion for languages and it never left me since then. Born and raised in Switzerland, I lived there most of my life but I used to travel for long periods of time, often to learn a language, Ecuador, Peru, The US, Canada, Italy, New Zealand, Australia, Brazil... and lived for 4 years in Dublin and in Berlin. I love everything artistic, especially music (indie, soul, neo-classical, I love listening to music in languages I learn) but also cinema, literature, modern circus, photography. I am generally quite curious and like to read fiction and non-fiction on all kinds of topic. I also enjoy hiking, swimming and having interesting conversationsMe as a Teacher
For about 3 years, I've been teaching French, English and German one-on-one in average 5 hours a week. I work as a volunteer teacher in an association for adult migrants in Switzerland. I have a class 2 hours a week.
I also taught English to a group of teenagers in Brazil for a month in 2018. I am a patient, dynamic, open-minded and sometimes funny teacher. Being a learner myself, I am attentive to the needs of my students. I am also a great believer in learning through games. For example it makes grammar usually much more digest. Speaking of which, I believe that I have a better grasp of grammar including in my own language than most native speakersMy lessons & teaching style
I give 3 types of lessons:
1) conversation : we'll talk about topics that interest you.
2) multi-activity lessons with focus on vocabulary acquisition, grammar, reading, listening...
3) in English, preparatory lessons for the First Certificate. I have myself passed Advanced and Proficiency
During the first lesson, I will assess your level, get to know what you are interested in, which aspects of the language you want to work on, how you would like me to bring you corrections and we'll work from there.
Please note: I'm not taking on students under 12 years old and students between 12 and 18 only on general classes. Exception could be made for students with B1 and above level.My teaching material

In short, I really recommend Séverine as she’s extremely patient and really wants to you learn. She collects all kinds of fun materials to make the lessons interesting, and would tailor the class to your needs. She’s always gentle and again very patient, which is the quality I enjoy the most in class — sometimes when I get upset for not understanding things I really appreciate that she remains calm. When I have questions, she’ll try to explain it in French first. If after a few tries it didn’t work, she then explains in English. I also love the fact that she offers 30mins class because it allows me to squeeze it into my schedule while not taking up too much workday space. Overall, really enjoyable experience!

Severine is someone i've been taking classes with since the near start of my french journey, and I simply couldn't find anyone i can trust in my progress as much as her, i wouldn't be able to do it without her help. Learning a language has many mountains that seems impossible to mount, but as a teacher, she is excellent in finding what to do, and focus on exactly to get over it. Even on the days i struggle, and feel like i can't even say a single phrase right, it still feels like a lesson that ended up being comfortable and above all, enjoyable.
