Interesting conversations at your language level. I am a semi-retired university lecturer in music and also have experience teaching languages. I have a doctorate in music and a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Although I am originally from Germany I have lived in the UK nearly all my life and mostly studied and worked through English. I speak BBC English without an accent. My preferred way of learning and teaching languages is through conversation, songs and games. We can talk about the cultures of different countries, current affairs or about art, music, literature, film and TV. This is a good way of getting comfortable in a language and of using words and phrases that are actually useful. We can look at a song together and think about the words. Perhaps you can learn the words of songs by heart for your homework in order to memorise useful expressions. I am happy to explain grammatical points as well but will try and make them as much fun as possible. If you want to get more serious I can help with academic English; the kind of style and vocabulary you will need to get good grades in essays and dissertations if you are studying through English.
