After taking a one-year break, I’m excited to be back and fully available to teach again—with lots of energy and enthusiasm! My name is Mike and I´m 40 years old. I was born and raised in the Netherlands so I´m a Dutch native speaker. I also speak English fluently. I love the Dutch language especially because of its language jokes. I’ve got a wide range of things that interest me: I like to be up-to-date with news items around the globe, love watching movies, like playing sports and I recently started to enjoy cooking as well. Enough topics to talk about. Together with my wife we regularly do voluntary teaching work at schools in Surinam (South America) where they also speak Dutch. In that form I am used to both teaching groups as individuals. I have got a bachelor degree in Economics and Law and have 13 years of experience at a legal department of a public organization of chartered accountants. By practice I´ve learned to say difficult things in a simple manner, easy to understand. For some time I also worked as a recruiter, so I can also help you out with application forms and prepare you for a job interview. I succesfully prepared students for the civil exam (A1/A2), Staatsexamen I, II (B1/B2) and assesment for medical students (C1). My goal is to make you feel relaxed and to be yourself during class. Mike is een van de beste docenten die ik ken op italki voor Nederlands lessen. Ik heb veel lessen met hem gehad en hij was altijd punctueel. Daarnaast waren alle lessen goed gestructureerd en gericht op mijn aandachtspunten en verwachtingen. Hij heeft me voorbereid op Het C1-medische assessment. Mike is a perfect teacher! With him I started finally to talk, not just to read or listen. He is not pushy at all, but pulls dutch words out of your mouth easily. And he’s always good prepared for the lesson: a lot of exercises and examples are always ready. Mike even remembers mistakes from the previous lesson, my personal bugs in grammar and pronouncing, so next lesson we always work on it. I highly recommend this teacher, but a bit afraid that soon he can be too occupied 😜

Mike was an absolutely amazing teacher. He was always on time, extremely well prepared for each lesson, kept the lessons engaging, and really made sure each lesson was relevant to the exam that I was preparing for. I feel 100% more confident speaking Dutch, and expressing myself in Dutch, as a result of his teaching. I can only recommend Mike as a teacher - you are not making a mistake in choosing him to be your Dutch teacher. Thank you Mike.
