Living in Other, Netherlands

Business Dutch from someone who ran a Dutch IT department for years Hi! I'm Jacob, a native Dutch speaker, IT manager with Microsoft certifications, and passionate educator. I help you learn Dutch in a relaxed, practical way, with real-life conversation and smart tools like AI to boost your progress. With 12 years in tech and 8 years leading IT teams, I also coach students in digital skills, product thinking and modern work life. I use AI daily and love showing others how to use it to learn smarter, including for languages. Outside of work I travel, play guitar, and learn Hindi and Chinese. I know the challenges of learning a new language, and how to make it fun, personal and effective. Because of my studies in NLP and a bachelor in Social Work, I listen well, let you set attainable goals and make a plan to reach them. Everyone learns differently, so I only use what works for you. I'm patient and kind, but can be strict when necessary: sometimes you just need a little nudge. Lots of humor, and I'll keep you going when things look tough. My classes: vocabulary with tools and small stories so it sticks (repetition is key, I'm a visual learner myself); structured sentence practice in day-to-day Dutch, so you speak like a native, not like a book; business and movie classes, how people talk in Dutch companies and the ethics there. I also teach children, having taught Chinese to kids before. Whatever it is, we'll do it!

Jacob is truly one of the best teachers I’ve ever had. He shares plenty of useful resources and works efficiently. He takes tests to evaluate my strengths and weaknesses, which has been so helpful in understanding my exact level. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a smart and responsible teacher!

I'm now on my fifth class. Today we did a sentence-building game to practice verb conjugation, which made the lesson really fun and engaging. The interactive approach makes the material stick and keeps the sessions lively. Each lesson leaves me hooked and eager to learn more. I highly recommend Jacob's teaching strategy and lesson structure!
